UNDER WTU-DCPS CONTRACT, EXTRA PAY IS DUE FOR EXTRA LARGE CLASSES
Article 23.17.5, found on pages 81-82 of the WTU-DCPS contract, requires that extra compensation be paid to teachers for extra coverage or for teaching classes that are larger than the maximize sizes outlined in our contract.
Article 126.96.36.199.1 (page 82) states: Secondary teachers who are assigned to provide instructional coverage for an absent Teacher’s students, which result in the loss of a planning period for the Teacher, shall receive compensation for the additional workload using Administrative Premium.
Article 188.8.131.52.1 (page 82) states: When an elementary Teacher is required to accept additional students in his/her class due to a Teacher’s absence, and the additional number results in a class exceeding the contractual limit, the Teacher shall be paid at the Administrative Premium per day of coverage. This per diem rate shall also apply to a special subject Teacher if the additional number of students results in three (3) or more of his/her classes exceeding the contractual limit.
Article 184.108.40.206.2 (page 82) states: When an elementary Teacher loses his/her planning period due to coverage based on the absence or unavailability of a special subject Teacher, itinerant Teacher or other person(s) designated in the master schedule to provide the Teacher with a planning period, the Teacher shall receive compensation using Administrative Premium.
Article 36.8.2 (page 96) states that the Administrative premium is $40 per hour.

Maximum class sizes
Section 23.13.1, found on page 78 of our contract states that:
Except as provided in Section 23.13.3, maximum class size shall not exceed the following:

Section 23.13.2, found on pages 78 and 79, lists the maximum class sizes for learning centers and students with disabilities.
Section 220.127.116.11, on page 79, states that Individual Education Plan (IEP) caseloads shall not exceed fifteen per Teacher.
