The Washington Teachers Union is moving towards a centralized system for intaking new grievances. All members will be required to use this form to submit a new grievance to the WTU.
The Official WTU Grievance Intake Form: https://forms.office.com/r/vb5Vyipjbf
The Process for the Summer:
- Submit the form.
-
We will respond within 2 business days with next steps.
- Next steps could include: best practices re: documentation and evidence gathering and where to send that information, FAQs, possible template for drafting the grievance, any steps we need you to take prior to filing the grievance.

- Sign up for a call with your assigned grievance specialist.
- Work with grievance specialist via email/call to finalize submission.
Rationale:
-
The sooner the form gets in, the quicker we will be able to work with you.
- We will triage those who are facing illegal excessing and IMPACT terminations first to see if we can resolve them before further harm is done.
- We will also be keeping up with current hearings that are scheduled and grievances being processed and will get in touch with those involved.
- We will triage those who are facing illegal excessing and IMPACT terminations first to see if we can resolve them before further harm is done.
- Due to the high volume of grievances, scheduled calls will be time-bound so we can process everyone’s case efficiently, so it will be good to be prepared and to the point with the most relevant information. Greater details can be put in writing.
Disclaimers:
-
If this is an investigation/discipline issue that will involve a required interview in less than 24 hours, please contact the WTU office and we will connect you with someone to help you right away.
- Most meetings you can exercise your Weingarten Rights and schedule the meeting at a time where a union representative can be present. (See image below)
- Grievances timelines are processed using school days, so this gives us a little time over the summer to fully work out our process, triage and get everyone processed.
- Submitting this form does not equate to submitting a grievance - more steps will need to be taken, so please check your email and stay in contact with your assigned grievance specialist.
We are committed to getting back to all members in a timely fashion so that all grievance deadlines are met. We appreciate your patience as we get this process fully up and running.
