WTU’s professional development courses are all research-based, peer-to-peer and solution-driven. All WTU courses are aligned to the DCPS IMPACT Teaching and Learning Framework and Essential Practices Standards 1 through 5.

Professional DevelopmentThe Washington Teachers’ Union (WTU) works to help great teachers become the best in the nation by providing training that can enrich teaching performance.

All WTU Professional Development courses are research-based, peer-to-peer taught and solution-driven and all of the courses help fulfill re-certification requirements, offering 45 Professional Learning Units (PLUs). Some of the courses also offer three Trinity University graduate credits that could be used toward re-certification instead of using the PLUs.

The WTU’s Teacher Leader program helps educators dig deep into issues that affect our profession both here in DC and nationally. Through the Teacher Leader program, DC educators can connect policy alternatives to practice and engage in advocacy for measures needed to assure that each and every student receives a world-class education.
