  • Managing Behavior in School Communities - Winter 2025

    The anti-social actions of a small number of students put their own academic success at risk and threaten others. This course presents research on the emotional and behavioral problems of students who consistently act out. Participants will learn strategies to reduce and/or prevent the occurrence of disruptive outbreaks.

    Participants may earn 45 PLU’s or 3 credits from Trinity University.

     

     

  • Reading Comprehension Instruction - Winter PD 2025

    This course is recommended for ALL teachers, and focuses on research and exemplary practices that help students acquire strong reading comprehension skills. It provides participants with a synthesis of research base on reading comprehension instruction and vocabulary development. Participants examine, discuss, and evaluate the appropriate application of a range of instructional strategies from explicit to implicit teaching of comprehension skills. Strategies are presented for increasing student comprehension of both narrative and expository texts—including content area textbooks. In addition, approaches are presented to help students monitor their own comprehension and apply appropriate “fix‐up” strategies when comprehension is not achieved. Practice in using these instructional strategies and examples of student work are embedded in each unit.

    Participants may earn 45 PLU’s or 3 credits from Trinity University.

  • Experiential Learning Techniques

    In-person in Washington, DC

    The Experiential Learning Techniques PD course shows educators the difference between role-plays and simulations. They can practice using examples of both forms of experiential learning techniques, and plan and begin to create their role-plays and simulations for their content area. (This is primarily for ELA, Social Studies, Science, and Inner Core teachers).

  • Civics 101: What is Truth?

    Trainers will dive into the core tenets of civics education, and the pillars of democracy, and address the question: “What is truth?” Be prepared to engage with other members in discerning misinformation from disinformation as we equip you with the tools and strategies to be informed digital citizens. You will walk away with strategies that you can implement the next day in your classroom, work site, and in daily life.

  • Understanding IMPACT

Participants will explore the key components of the system, including its goals, evaluation criteria, and the process for receiving feedback. Through interactive sessions and practical examples, teachers will learn how to effectively navigate the IMPACT system to enhance their professional growth and improve student outcomes.
