Calling all K‐12 teachers who need to help increase their students’ comprehension of text—whether that text is a literature selection (narrative) or a subject area textbook (expository/ informational). If you want to learn about strategies to incorporate literacy in your content be it literature, art, music, P.E., science, or social studies, Reading Comprehension Instruction (RCI) course content is what you need to learn exemplary practices that will help your students acquire strong reading comprehension skills and academic vocabulary development. With RCI, you get to examine, discuss, and evaluate the appropriate application of a range of instructional strategies from explicit to implicit teaching of comprehension skills for both narrative and expository texts to help students monitor their own comprehension and apply appropriate “fix‐up” strategies when comprehension is not achieved. Welcome to Reading Comprehension Instruction!

Participants may earn 45 PLU’s or three (3) graduate credits - not both. It is one or the other.
