- Geographic/Ward Based Signal Chat – WTU can help put you in touch with Building Reps to set up a Signal Chat with a point person from each school to share what is going on.
- Rapid Response in Your School – Identify who is interested in ensuring that all DC Protocols are followed. If law enforcement attempts to enter the school have a person monitor to ensure that the Principal is informed, a judicial warrant is provided, DCPS General Counsel is contacted and that team is aware of what is happening.
- Training – Share Know Your Rights Information with students. Practice scenarios and how to enact your rights.
- Community Based Safe Passage – Identify key corridors students travel to/from school and any potential increased law enforcement presence. Recruit educator and parent volunteers to go to those locations and help escort, deescalate and be a comforting presence to students on their way to school. Knock on neighbors doors and ask them to be present on their porch/sidewalks to say hi and welcome students on their way to school.
