Deal's SBMC Sets The Standard
We commend the outstanding leadership of our WTU Building Representative Michael Donaldson Jr. at Alice Deal Middle School. He has played a pivotal role in ensuring the school’s Student Behavior Management Committee operates at its highest level. His dedication to collaboration and problem-solving has strengthened systems that support both educators and students. Thanks to his commitment, Alice Deal continues to set a standard for effective behavior management and a positive school climate. Retirees Keep Union Spirit Alive
Our WTU Retirees continue to inspire! Even after decades of classroom instruction, they remain deeply engaged through organizing, advocating, and lending their wisdom to support future generations of educators. Their commitment reminds us that solidarity doesn’t end at retirement; it grows stronger with experience and purpose. We commend their unwavering dedication to our union and the educators who follow in their footsteps.
Bunker Hill and WTU Members Champion International Teachers
Bunker Hill Elementary showed up in full force at the recent DCPS budget hearing to advocate for our international teachers and the renewal of their visas. Both educators and families testified passionately, underscoring the vital role these teachers play in their school community. Several WTU members also spoke out, making this possibly the single most raised issue of the entire hearing. This powerful display of solidarity reflects the strength of our WTU family in standing up for our educators. To continue this momentum, see the We Want To Hear From You section below for how you can add your voice by emailing key DC Government officials.
Standing Strong Against Corporate Collusion
In a powerful show of unity, the WTU Representative Assembly has passed resolutions supporting the national We Ain’t Buying It boycott and Striking Starbucks Workers. For more details about this national movements, see the What’s New section below.
