Good Morning WTU Family,

 

I hope you enjoyed a weekend of sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures. I want to highlight several upcoming opportunities for you to make your voices heard and advocate for our colleagues, our students, and our schools. 

 

1. International Teachers Meeting
Tuesday, February 25th | 4:30 PM (Virtual)
Join Attorney Nicole Dillard for guidance on H1-B visa requirements and U.S. employment. This is a valuable opportunity to address any concerns or questions you may have. Click here to join the meeting.

 

2. DC Council Performance Oversight Hearing on DCPS
Thursday, February 27th | 10:00 AM (Virtual)
Testifying before the DC City Council is one of the most impactful actions you can take to ensure leaders understand what teachers need most. Please register here to testify. WTU's office is available to assist with talking points—contact Organizer Mike Roland at [email protected].

 

3. Day of Action Planning Meeting
Thursday, February 27th | 4:30 PM (Virtual)
Trump’s proposed budget cuts threaten education and healthcare funding. Join us as we prepare for our Day of Action on March 4th, mobilizing against attacks on education, immigration, DEI, Home Rule, LGBTQ rights, and democracy. Register here to participate.

Mobilizing For a Day of Action

Come to the meeting this Thursday, February 27th, 2025, at 4:30 pm to plan and prepare for a day of action on March 4th. We will be mobilizing to respond to the new administration's attack on education, immigration, DEI, Home Rule, LGBTQ rights, and democracy. Testify at the Upcoming DC Council Performance Oversight Hearing on DCPS on Thursday, February 27th, 2025

At 10 am this Thursday, February 27th, there will be a DC Council Performance Oversight Hearing on DCPS.  You will be able to testify virtually.

Please note that your testimony will help improve DCPS and ensure DCPS follows our new collective bargaining agreement.

 

Virtual Session for WTU International Teachers

At 4:30 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, February 25th, the WTU will be hosting a virtual informational session with attorney Nicole Dillard for WTU's international teachers with an H1-B visa. If you are a WTU international teacher with an H1-B visa, you will be able to join the meeting by clicking here.

 

New Collective Bargaining Agreement

We are happy to announce that the new five-year Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between WTU and DCPS is now available electronically on our website. If you would like an electronic copy of the CBA, you may do so by clicking here. Printed copies of the CBA will be available as soon as possible.
