Dear WTU Family,
As we reflect on the vibrant celebrations of WorldPride 2025, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for our union's remarkable participation. Your enthusiasm and dedication made this year's events truly unforgettable.
From the rooftop kickoff at Hotel Zena to the creative energy at our Truck Decorating Party, culminating in our spirited march under the Tiaras & Tails theme inspired by Julian Is a Mermaid, your involvement showcased the heart and soul of our community. At the WorldPride Festival, our booth became a beacon of inclusivity and literacy, where we distributed 1,500 free books to children—doubling our efforts from last year.
This significant achievement was made possible by a generous $10,000 grant from the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). Their unwavering support empowers us to expand our outreach and reinforce our commitment to education and inclusivity.
This year's participation was indeed bigger and better than ever, reflecting our collective commitment to fostering a more inclusive and educated community.
As we continue to build on this momentum, I want to remind you that WTU elections are underway, and voting concludes one week from today. Your voice is vital in shaping the future of our union. If you haven't already, please take a moment to cast your vote and encourage your colleagues to do the same.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment and for making WorldPride 2025 a resounding success.
In solidarity,
Jacqueline Pogue Lyons
President, Washington Teachers’ Union
